Day Two

TODAY'S WEIGHT: 223.6

As instructed, I stopped by Slimgenics today... they did another weigh-in and performed various measurements (waist, chest, arm and thigh); which they plan on doing monthly.  Stuck to the low-carb induction diet again today--no mistakes today :-)

Day One

TODAYS WEIGHT:  225.6

I started their program today (and have already managed to screw up on the first day!

The induction portion of Slimgenics takes three days, and is similar to the Atkins diet.  Low carbs and a lot of protein, along with their various supplements.    I did great and stayed away from diet pop, and took all the supplements on time, and stayed away from carbs the entire day.

According to the instructions, I can eat 1/2 an orange in the morning and 2 eggs.  The rest of the day I can eat vegetables and meat.  For lunch I had left-over ham that was in the fridge, and for dinner I had a baked chicken breast with peas..  so where did I go wrong??

The directions state that you can eat as much meat and green vegetables as you want..  in the fine print it says to stay away from pork (oops!)  and the fine print under vegetables mentions that you cannot eat peas (another oops!)

Hopefully I'll be able to follow directions better the next 40 weeks..

Fed Up!

Last Thursday was the last straw for me..  I've been trying to lose weight my entire life..  ever since 5th grade, I've been overweight...  not sure what happened that year, but I went from being thin to being overweight..  and I stayed that way ever since..  I'm six feet tall, and at my worst I weighed in at 256lbs..  I've managed to take some of that off and get back to my high-school weight of 225..  but I'm still not happy with myself..  I've tried all types of diets which seem to work for the weeks I'm on them..  after that I just go back to my old bad habits..

After hearing a DJ talk about Slimgenics on the local sports radio station for the past 2 years, I've decided that maybe I should give it a try.  I looked on the net and found mostly positive reviews..  most people liked them, and lost weight..  but almost all people complained about the price...

There is one close to my work, so last Thursday I decided to go in for a free consultation.
Basically, I listened to their sales pitch (even though I had already made up my mind and was going to join); and then signed up..  They advised me that I should lose 40 lbs..  which would get me down to 190lbs..   The weight loss would take 16 weeks, and then I would need to be on their program an additional 24 weeks so that they can determine what I need to eat to maintain my weight, and then train me to stay on a diet that would keep me at that weight..

I joined on Thursday, and today is the first day of my journey.. (Sunday)
